| Niagara Falls and the surrounding areas attract over 12 million visitors every year. Our rich history, beautiful scenery and world class accommodations are only part of the attraction. Niagara also boasts world class wineries, golf courses, theme parks and shopping malls.
All accounts of Niagara’s attractions start with the majestic Horseshoe Falls. At 167 feet in height and handling 600,000 U.S. gallons per second in water flow the falls truly are a natural wonder of the world. However, the Falls are not the only example of natural beauty in Niagara. The Niagara Escarpment is one of Canada's most significant landforms. Queenston Heights, located on the Niagara Escarpment, features several monuments to heroes of the War of 1812. The park holds historical significance as it was the location of the battle for Queenston Heights, during the War of 1812, which is considered one of the most important battles ever fought on Canadian soil. Overlooking the Niagara River, Queenston Heights is a fantastic location for family fun in the sun.
Ontario wineries represent another key attraction for the Niagara area. Our wineries offer tastings and tours of their world class vineyards and estates. Ontario is particularly famous for being the largest ice wine producer in the world. In addition we grow several unique hybrids (Baco Noir, Seyval Blanc, Marechal Foch, a cross between Pinot Noir and Gamay grapes, and Vidal, often used as the basis for our world renowned ice wine).
Niagara is also home to over 40 golf courses. For the professional, enthusiast or beginner our courses accommodate all levels of skills while providing breathtaking scenery.
Finally, no account of Niagara’s attractions would be complete without mention of our shopping. Both the Seaway Mall and Pen Centre, both located in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula, offer hundreds of stores and well over a million square feet of shopping between them. Niagara also offers an Outlet Mall with more than 100 shopping outlets.
